Western riding in Italy

We offer ridingholidays all year around at our lovely farmhouse in Emilia Romagna (Italy). We also give private lessons and group lessons in western riding and western dressage. We arrange trekking with our horses and of course full boarding with traditional home cooked Italian food. We  only use products from our own farm och locally produced within our region Emilia-Romagna.

All our horses are American Quarters and American Paints. They are all very well educated, calm, friendly, responsive and highly suitable no matter if you are an experienced rider or a beginner. All our horses are kept outside in fields with both pasture and forest all year around. We stay very true to a natural horsemanship.

Oak Wood Ranch offers a lovely farm building located in the beautiful town of Toano, in the province of Reggio Emilia, located in a dominant position in the countryside. The property consists of approximately 100,000 square meters of land, mostly used as arable land. The completely renovated building spreads out on three levels and has a total area of about 310 square meters. We offer 4  spacious and comfortable guestrooms all with their own bathroom. From all rooms you have a spectacular view over the garden and the surrounding hills. You can stay 1-4 people in each room and our total capacity is 16 guests. We want to stay small and genuine and offer a truly relaxed and well thought through vacation to all our guests.

During a riding holiday  at Oak Wood Ranch it´s possible not only to do westernriding, we also offer a wonderful nature and climate for trekking and jogging. The panoramic view from the garden is breathtaking and the region Emilia Romagna is very famous for it´s beautiful unspoiled nature and landscape.

At 2 hours distance by car it´s possible to reach famous Italian cities such as Venice, Milan and Lucca (Tuscany). During your riding holiday at Oak Wood Ranch we offer both half day excursions and full day excursions. It´s also possible to go exploring on your own and we   are more than happy to assist you with valuable information about all the sights. At 1 hour drive you find the beautiful ancient city Bologna and  within 45 minutes Modena.

At Oak Wood Ranch we love good food and good wine and we believe that any holiday needs to be satisfying in a gastronomical aspect. We serve our guests home cooked traditional Italian food as well as tasty American barbecue meals. Johan has been cooking for our guests over the last 8 years and is a highly appreciated chef.

In Emilia Romagna another famous city is Parma well known for both the prosciutto ham and the Parmiggiano Reggiano cheese.

Our house has a fully equipped restaurant kitchen and on the ground floor a large dining area spreads out. We have one wood stove in the garden and another one inside the house for baking bread and pizza. Next to the dining area we have a lounge area with an open fireplace.

We are open all year around and offer riding vacations for both beginners and more experienced and advanced riders. In the summertime besides trail rides and lessons in western riding we also offer a spectacular nature highly suitable for trekking and jogging. We have an outdoor Jacuzzi that can be used by our guests both daytime and in the evening. During the winter it´s possible to combine you’re riding holiday at Oak Wood Ranch with skiing. There are several ski resorts within 1-2 hour of distance.
